OLED

The self-lit display type used on iPhone X and every Pro model since.

OLED panels light each pixel individually, which is why blacks look black and why a cracked OLED often shows spreading dark patches or green lines rather than simply a broken pane of glass. On the models that shipped with OLED we fit OLED, because an LCD copy loses the contrast and the deep-black look you paid for.

LCD

The backlit display type used on iPhone 11, XR and most models up to iPhone 8.

An LCD lights the whole panel from behind. When it breaks you usually see white patches, ink-like bleeding or a bright but unresponsive screen. LCD assemblies cost less than OLED, which is why screens for an iPhone 11 or an SE are far cheaper than for a Pro Max.

True Tone

Automatic white-balance matching that many repairs silently kill.

True Tone reads the ambient light sensor and warms or cools the display to match the room. It is tied to the original panel's calibration data, so a careless screen swap removes the setting from Settings > Display entirely. We transfer the calibration so True Tone keeps working after the repair.

Face ID

The paired front sensor array that must survive a screen replacement.

Face ID lives in the sensor housing at the top of the display, and it is cryptographically paired to your phone. It cannot be replaced with a used part, but it can be carried over intact — which is exactly what we do when fitting a new screen.

Battery health

The percentage of original capacity your battery can still hold.

Found in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Below roughly 85% you start noticing shorter days; below 80% iOS may throttle peak performance and warn you. A replacement cell resets you to a fresh 100%.

Cycle count

How many full charges a battery has been through.

One cycle is 100% of capacity used, whether in one go or across several days. Apple designs iPhone batteries to hold about 80% capacity after 500 to 1,000 cycles depending on the model. We fit zero-cycle cells — brand new, never charged.

Swollen battery

A gassing cell that lifts the screen away from the frame.

If the display sits proud of the chassis, or you can see a gap along one edge, the battery is expanding. Stop charging it and stop using it — a punctured lithium cell is a fire risk. This is a same-day job for us.

Back glass

The rear pane, bonded to the chassis on iPhone 8 and later.

From iPhone 8 onward the back glass is laminated to the frame, which is why Apple's answer is usually a whole-housing swap. We remove the broken glass with a cold laser instead, leaving the logic board untouched.

Laser separation

Using a focused laser to release bonded rear glass.

The laser breaks the adhesive bond under the glass without heating the phone through. It is the difference between a one-hour job on the bench and a full teardown, and it is why back glass here is a flat price rather than a housing replacement.

Lightning port

The charging connector on iPhone 5 through iPhone 14.

The port carries charging, data and one of the microphones on a single flex cable. Lint, sea air and bent pins are the usual causes of a cable that falls out or charges only at one angle.

USB-C port

The charging connector from iPhone 15 onward.

Apple moved the iPhone to USB-C with the 15 series. It fails the same way Lightning did — debris, corrosion and worn contacts — and it is replaced as a flex assembly along with the bottom microphone.

Taptic Engine

The linear motor behind the iPhone's precise vibration.

It sits next to the charging flex, so it is often disturbed by water ingress or a bad third-party repair. Symptoms are a buzzing rattle or no haptic feedback at all when typing.

OIS

Optical image stabilisation inside the rear camera module.

Tiny magnets float the lens to cancel out hand shake. A drop can unseat them, which shows up as a rattling or buzzing noise when the camera app opens, plus blurry photos in anything less than bright daylight.

Camera lens glass

The sapphire cover over each rear lens — replaceable on its own.

If only the outer glass is cracked and photos are hazy or flared, the lens cover can be changed without touching the camera module itself. That is a much cheaper job than a full module swap.

Corrosion

Salt and mineral residue eating the logic board after liquid gets in.

Sea water and pool water keep attacking the board long after the phone has dried. Rice does nothing about it. An ultrasonic clean with corrosion treatment removes the residue — which is what our liquid service is, a clean rather than a guaranteed repair.

Ultrasonic cleaning

Bathing the board in solvent agitated by high-frequency sound.

The cavitation reaches under chips and connectors where a brush cannot. It is the only sensible first step on a liquid-damaged phone, and it is charged as a deposit because no honest shop can promise the board will come back.

Logic board

The main circuit board — your data lives on it, not on the screen.

Because storage is soldered to the logic board, a smashed screen or a dead battery never means lost photos. If the board itself is damaged, data recovery becomes a specialist micro-soldering job.

Ghost touch

A screen registering taps nobody made.

Usually a damaged digitiser layer after a drop, or moisture between the layers. It can also come from a poor-quality replacement panel — one reason we do not fit the cheapest screens on the market.

Apple does not sell parts to independent workshops in Spain, so honest wording matters: genuine-grade means the panel or cell matches original brightness, colour and capacity, not that it came in an Apple box. That is why the screens carry a lifetime warranty.
