The iPhone 8 uses a 4.7-inch LCD display. A damaged LCD usually shows ink-like black blotches, bleeding colours or a backlight that no longer lights up evenly. Glass and LCD are replaced together as one assembly, which is part of why older LCD iPhones cost less to repair.

Keeping Touch ID working

The iPhone 8 uses Touch ID, and the fingerprint sensor is paired to the phone's logic board. A replacement sensor will not unlock the phone, so during a screen repair we transfer your original home button or sensor across. If the button itself is cracked, Touch ID may not be recoverable, and we will tell you before any work starts.

Battery and charging

First released in 2017, many iPhone 8 phones still in use are on their original battery. On iOS, Settings then Battery then Battery Health shows the maximum capacity; if it is low or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, a new battery is usually the most cost-effective repair.
