Repairing an iPhone 17 Pro: what to know
iPhone 17 Pro screen damage
The iPhone 17 Pro uses a 6.3-inch OLED display. When OLED panels are damaged they often show green or purple lines, black spots that spread, or a screen that stays dark while the phone still rings. Cracked glass on an OLED iPhone almost always means replacing the whole display assembly, because the glass and panel are bonded together.
Keeping Face ID working
Face ID on the iPhone 17 Pro relies on sensors in the top of the screen area that are paired to the phone's logic board. During a screen repair we move the original sensors across carefully rather than replacing them, so Face ID keeps working. If Face ID stopped working after a drop, tell us when you message, as that is a separate fault we need to check.
Battery and charging
The iPhone 17 Pro was released in 2025, so most batteries are still in good health. If yours drains unusually fast, check Settings then Battery for apps using heavy power before assuming the battery needs replacing.
The iPhone 17 Pro charges through a USB-C port. If charging is unreliable, try a different cable first; lint packed into the port is common and we clean it before suggesting any replacement part. Wireless charging still working while the port fails is a useful sign the fault is in the port, not the battery.
